Playa Chiquita is a stunning strip of soft white sand hidden away in the jungle with lots of little nooks and crannies to explore. As you walk up and down the coastline there’s a different view at every turn, each more dazzling than the last. There is a short and easy path through the jungle to access Playa Chiquita, there are no restaurants or bars on the beach so plan accordingly.
The sea is usually pretty calm at Playa Chiquita and great for swimming, but use caution swimming here just like you should at all the beaches in Puerto Viejo, riptides can occur and there are no lifeguards. Never leave your valuable unattended at any of the beaches in the Puerto Viejo area. Playa Chiquita is about 30 minutes away from Hidden Jungle Beach House on a bicycle, you can also take the bus or a taxi. It’s an enchanting oasis and well worth the journey. We recommend stopping for breakfast or lunch at GypSea Cafe before or after your visit to the beach, it’s right near the beach access trail entrance on the main road and one of my favorite restaurants in the Puerto Viejo area!
